5 Python Projects for Beginners That Impress Interviewers

If you are learning Python and wondering what to build, start small. These five projects grow in difficulty, and together they cover most of what freshers are asked about in Python full stack interviews in Bangalore.

1. Expense tracker (command line)

Add, list and total your daily expenses, and save them to a CSV file. You practise variables, loops, functions, lists, dictionaries and file handling, the core basics every interviewer checks.

2. File organiser script

Write a script that sorts a messy Downloads folder into sub-folders by file type. It teaches the os and shutil modules and shows how Python saves real time through automation.

3. Data report with Pandas

Load a public dataset (for example, cricket scores or city weather), clean it with Pandas, and produce a short summary with a couple of charts. Even full stack roles value people who can read and summarise data.

4. Blog or to-do app with Django

Build a web app with user login, a MySQL database and pages to create, edit and delete posts or tasks. This is your first true full stack project: models, views, templates, forms and authentication.

5. Django REST API with a React front end

Turn project 4 into an API and build a simple React page that calls it. Add one AI feature, such as a button that summarises a post using an AI API, and you have a modern portfolio project.

Tips that make projects count

  • Put every project on GitHub with a clear README and screenshots.
  • Write down one problem you got stuck on and how you fixed it. Interviewers love that story.
  • Deploy at least one project so you can share a live link.

If you are from a non-IT background and want a structured path with mentoring, see the Python full stack course in Bangalore at ScholarLogic, BTM Layout.

Arjun is a counselor at ScholarLogic.
